Medium Weight Pentagram Gear Spindle
top whorl drop spindle weighs 1 oz-1.1 oz (29-33 g)
It features a hand-turned 3 1/2" diameter whorl made from Baltic birch ply, with a 10" long birch shaft and a cup hook with a bronze finish.
Stained Gun stock and sealed.
I hand turn these with the mass to the rim for better balance and longer spin.
well balanced and tested
This unique shape is not just stylish but does what a good drop spindle does...spin.
The center cutouts not only makes it lighter it puts the majority of the mass to the rim and that's a good thing. Who doesn't want 20 notches?

This spindle is perfection, the design addresses every single thing I disliked about the last spindle I was using. Not a lot of weight to it, which I adore, it feels dainty yet sturdy. I’m still very much a novice but having a tool of this quality has already improved my technique in a very short time.

It's a light spindle, and I'm happy with it for the most part. There are little nails in the plate that stick out a bit and are sharp to the touch, and don't seem to have any function at all. It's almost like broken staples or finishing nails that were left in scrap wood before reusing it, I would include pictures but Etsy isn't allowing it for some reason. And the hook at the top is very sharp wire. I had to sand it down myself, because I kept cutting myself with it. Overall, it's lovely to look at, but the work I had to put in to finish it so I could use it comfortably was more than I expected when buying a spindle.
