Pentagram Gear Spindle

Sorry, this item has sold.

Medium Weight Pentagram Gear Spindle
top whorl drop spindle weighs 1 oz-1.1 oz (29-33 g)
It features a hand-turned 3 1/2" diameter whorl made from Baltic birch ply, with a 10" long poplar shaft with a dinner bell hook.
Stained Gun stock and sealed.

I hand turn these with the mass to the rim for better balance and longer spin.
well balanced and tested

This unique shape is not just stylish but does what a good drop spindle does...spin.
The center cutouts not only makes it lighter it puts the majority of the mass to the rim and that's a good thing. Who doesn't want 20 notches?

Showed up quickly, spins great!

This spindle is beautiful and balanced! I also got a perfectly smooth nalbinding needle that I plan to use for weaving as well. Overall everything is well made and very skillfully crafted. 10/10!

My new favorite top whorl spindle. It's lightweight and does a great jobs with making DK to medium weight yarns. It's best for medium to long staple length fibers. The notches from the gear shape keep the yarn from sliding around, regardless of how thick the yarn is. And the hook on the whorl is angular (instead of the rounded cup hook), which I think also does a great job of keeping the yarn in place as you spin. I absolutely love this spindle.
