This kit includes 4 ounces of domestic blend wool roving and a steampunk medium weight top whorl drop spindle. (weights vary 0.9-1.1 oz (26-31 g) Your choice of color, Mahogany (brown) or Gunstock (orange).
I use this roving on a regular basis, it is what I used when I learned how to spin. I also use in when teaching beginners, as it has a longer staple length (about 4, 4 1/2") and drafts well.
It features a hand-turned 3 1/2" diameter whorl made from Baltic birch ply, with a 10" poplar shaft with a dinner bell hook.
I hand turn these with the mass to the rim for better balance and longer spin.

The center cutouts not only makes it lighter it puts the majority of the mass to the rim and that's a good thing. Who doesn't want 20 notches?
