Medium weight Gunstock Steampunk Gear Top Whorl Drop Spindle 10" shaft

$27.00

Shipping to United States: $4.70

This Steampunk Medium weight top whorl drop spindle weighs 1-1.2 oz (27-34 g)
Experience Level: Beginner and above
It features a hand-turned 3 1/2" diameter whorl made from Baltic birch ply, with a 10" long poplar shaft with a dinner bell hook. Stained Gun stock and sealed.
I hand turn these with the mass to the rim for better balance and longer spin.
This unique shape is not just stylish but does what a good drop spindle does...spin.
The center cutouts not only makes it lighter it puts the majority of the mass to the rim and that's a good thing. Who doesn't want 20 notches?

I am so pleased with this spindle. It is lightweight for it size, which makes it easy to spin and to keep in motion. I love all of the notches around the whorl. I bought it with the intention to mostly use it for plying, which it does very well. However, I am finding that I really enjoy spinning with it, too. This will be my go-to spindle for spinning a worsted weight yarn and for plying if I need to ply with a spindle.

Great weight. So many spinners recommended Snyder Spindles and I am glad I listened to them.

I’m unhappy with this spindle because the wood stain looks slapdash, as though it was applied too quickly for quality. The color is haphazard and inconsistent across the spindle and shaft.
